UDUMBARA pottery started in 1994, but ever since I can remember, I have marked all my artworks with \u201czorro\u201d the Sarvela family cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This original was the signature of my ancestor Hermanni Sarvela (1806\u20131880) but assumedly much older, and it has been used as my father’s family\u2019s symbol. In 2001 graphic artist Eva Louhio (who also made UDUMBARA\u2019s logos) made a mark of mine, this red version of \u201czorro wrong way around.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is very old and has been watching over the pottery for years. The rooster is from the same farm (Sariola) as my \u201czorro\u201d mark, from the Sarvijoki village in Jurva South-Ostrobothnia of Finland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
